Beale was all smiles ahead of the race that was won by American supermaxi Comanche on Monday night.
Perpetual was just one of 32 boats that were retired in what were described as the worst weather conditions in the competition's history.
But that was of little comfort to Beale's fellow celebrity crew that included former NRL Rooster, Anthony Minichiello, former Australian cricket captain, Michael Clarke, former Waratah, Phil Waugh and Today's, Erin Molan, who all took to social media to express their disappointment.
"It's been a tough 24 hours, we're incredibly disapponted with what's happened to the boat but you can't control that," said Michael Clarke in an interview for the Today show.
"The weather was pretty tough and I felt pretty sick the majority of the way to be honest. I spent a lot of time at the back of the boat throwing up."
Ms Molan back on dry land and in the Today show studio spoke of how she had been scared for her life and how "gut wrenching" it had felt to withdraw.
"It literally went dead calm, and then all of a sudden it was like Jurassic Park ... 40 knott winds, 10 to 15 me3tre swells, it was just out of control ... it was terrifying. I'm gutted, I feel hollow and empty and it's so silly beacuse I'm not a sailor but I feel like we've failed."
