After 48 hours of speculation, Nathan Peats has officially joined the Gold Coast Titans, with the club confirming the news late on Wednesday evening.

Peats’ departure means the Parramatta Eels should be able to resume playing for competition points, having cleared the required funds to fall under the NRL salary cap.

The 25-year-old hooker has signed an 18 month contract with the Titans, committing him to the club until the end of the 2017 season.

Peats is unlikely to feature for his new club in Monday’s clash with the Sydney Roosters.

Gold Coast Titans forward Ryan James appeared on NITV’s League Nation Live and said the addition of Peats would be a significant boost for the club.

“He’s a great player, I’ve played Indigenous All-Stars with him and he’d be great for the future as well.

“He’s a great addition to the team and we’d be happy to have him.”

The addition of Peats does give the Titans a plethora of options at dummy half, with the former Eel joining Titans captain Nathan Friend, Daniel Mortimer and Kierran Moseley in the squad.
