History has been made with the creation of the first completely Indigenous superhero universe, Dark Heart.
Beginning as a drawing in high school, Dark Heart is the brainchild of, a lifetime comic fan, who has been passionate about designing his own series since he was a child.
While at this stage Wilson is tight-lipped about the plot, he said the comic seeks to share an insight into the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

“It’s an opportunity to step away from a past of ignorance and misunderstanding... I really feel that Australia needs a key figure, a symbol of who we are as Aboriginal people, and what we are fighting for," he said,
"But also, [a symbol of] the future, and what our future can look like.
“I made the pledge to never make a comic book where it’s Blak versus white. I have always had this vision of unity, like Ghandi says ‘be the change you wish to see in the world’, I want to do that in this."
Dark Heart is the first installation of the universe that hosts five superhero storylines. The next character is set to be a "female powerhouse" that celebrates strong Blak women.
With proud ties to the Muludja Community and Kununurra, Mr Wilson has filled the first edition with Gooniyandi and Miriwong Kadgerong language, and reiterated that it would only be incorporated with the "complete consultation and collaboration" with those who hold it.

“I am paying respect to my language, with the vision [to include other languages] because a lot of the superheros are spread out across Australia... I want to pay respect and homage to people by going to these places and working with people to bring these superheroes to life,” he said.
He hopes Dark Heart will be available in hard copy in June.
