New Aussies reach out through hip hop

An initiative in one of Australia's most culturally-diverse communities is giving new Australians a way to express themselves, using a combination of technology and music.

American rapper Doug E. Fresh once said that hip-hop aims to uplift, educate and make a change.

Now, an initiative in one of Australia's most culturally-diverse communities has done just that.

Hip Hop Projections has given the latest generation of new Australians a way to express themselves, using a combination of technology and music.

Six weeks of performance and visual arts workshops culminated in a performance in Sydney's west.

Information and Cultural Exchange, known as ICE - invited local youth to take the stage, even giving them their own red-carpet reception.
