A new animated short film launched by the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service of Victoria is hoping to promote healthy relationships for young Kooris.

The social media campaign tells the story of fictional character Kiah and illustrates some of the danger signs associated with controlling, abusive and violent relationships.

FVPLS, CEO, Antoinette Braybrook said: “What’s innovative about this campaign is that it educates our girls about the warning signs, while also bringing positive relationships into the spotlight – highlighting culture as a protective factor and encouraging our girls to draw strength from family and friends.”

The five minute clip can be viewed here/on the FVPLS Victoria Facebook Page and also features a competition available for Aboriginal Woman aged between 13-21.
Funded by the Victorian State Government, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Natalia Hutchins said the initiative is part of their Governments Aboriginal Family Violence Media Strategy.

“The Andrews Labor Government is proud to support the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service in delivering this fantastic project that is helping to reduce family violence and keep our communities safe,"  said Minister Hutchins.

The Deadly Duos campaign has already clocked up over 10,000 views and hundreds of shares on Facebook since it launched late last month.
