West Australian all-rounder Samara Williams hit the winning shot in the National Indigenous women's team's first ever victory on its inaugural tour of India this week.

It was a special moment for Samara, who before this trip, had never left Australian shores.

NITV's Natalie Ahmat is travelling with the team, and caught up with the 19-year-old for a few quick questions.

What does it mean to you to be part of this tour, representing not only your country, but your mob?

It amazing really. It's the first time this has ever happened and I'm incredibly thrilled to be a part of it.

Coming from a small little country town, not many people from there get to go this far, so that I'm one of the people that can do that, I'm very proud.

What's been the highlight of the tour so far?

The buffet! No, getting to know the girls a lot better. They're all a great bunch and making a better bond with them, that's my highlight.

What's been the biggest challenge?

It's a big, big change from playing in Australia. Trying to adapt to the pitch for one - it's very different to ours.

What are you most looking forward to?

Definitely looking forward to more playing time, and building and improving on batting and bowling, and really winning with them. I just want to get out there and just smash em!

What's your favourite Indian food?

Naan bread. I love naan bread. I had like, a basket and a half for dinner, it's great!
