This is the story of three young ‘effeminate‘ men, RaeRae or Mahu, as they’re called in French Polynesia.

Equipped with little cameras, they become the directors of their own identity quest and invite us into their everyday life, sharing their joy but also their grief with us and hence inviting us to reflect on our prejudices and mindsets concerning transgender people.

The Stars Will Do is a film that sheds light on the situation of the Mahu in contemporary Polynesian society, told by themselves in their own words and images.
