This stalwart of Sydney’s cultural scene turns 40 this year and is boasting some amazing Indigenous talent in the run up to January 26.
Some of the highlights include:
- A free Tiwi Dance Lesson by the Strong Women’s Group from the Tiwi Islands at the Meriton festival Village, on the January 16 at 11.00am
- Djuki Mala dancers perform at the Magic Mirrors Spigeltent on January 19, 20 & 24 at 7.30pm, and January 21–23 at 5.15pm.
- Catch Screenings of ‘Spear’, Stephan Page’s directorial debut featuring Bangarra Dance Company, at the Drama Theatre on Bennelong Point on the January 23 at 7.30pm and January 24 at 2pm.

Returning to Melbourne’s Treasury Gardens this year, this thriving hub of Aboriginal dance, culture and music will showcase the talent of the local Aboriginal Arts community. Beginning at 1.00pm on Survival Day, January 26, the state’s longest running music festival is sure not to disappoint!

Yabun Festival, NSW
Aboriginal rock and reggae icon Bart Willoughby will be headlining this year’s Yabun festival, held annually on Survival Day, January 26 on the traditional lands of the Gadigal people in Camperdown, Sydney.
He is joined by a line-up of gifted singers and musicians who will entertain the crowds from 10.00am. A vibrant program of arts, dance, music and speakers will help to complete this celebration of the oldest living culture on earth!
Tandanya Survival Day, SA
'Still Surviving, Still Thriving' is the catchphrase for this year's Survival Day celebration on Port Adelaide's Semaphore Foreshore. From 12.30pm up-and-coming and seasoned performers including Electric Fields, Bec Gollan and Alan Sumner will grace the stage delivering an afternoon of musical delight.
Committed to supporting Indigenous culture, dancers from Kurruru Youth Performing Arts Centre will also perform.
