Virgin responds to racism claims after Indigenous worker is called 'Abo' by supervisor

A well known Darwin entertainer takes to social media to call out his employer.

Update 5:00pm: Virgin Australia has responded to claims of racism against one of its Indigenous employees by a fellow staffer.

This is what they said in a statement sent to NITV: "Virgin Australia is committed to providing a culture and workplace that fosters diversity and inclusion across all levels of the business. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination and are fully investigating this claim." 

NITV has also placed calls to the employee.

Earlier report

An Indigenous man working for Virgin Australia has posted on his Facebook page that he was called the racist term "Abo" by his supervisor.

The young man, from Darwin in the Northern Territory, is a well known entertainer.

NITV News has contacted the man and will bring you further details throughout the afternoon.

Virgin Airline is being contacted for comment.
