Amelia Telford: 2015 Australian Geographic Young Conservationist

Published
Bundjalung Woman, Amelia Telford has been named as the 2015 Australian Geographic Young Conservationist of the Year. Originally from Tweed Heads on the New South Wales far north coast she joined the Youth Climate Coalition and then, last year, and set up SEED, a network of young First Nations conservationists. The award comes in the same week that she - along with 61 other prominent Australians - signed a full page advertisement, calling on the government to push for a ban on coal mining at the upcoming Paris climate talks. NITV News presenter Natalie Ahmat spoke to Amelia a little earlier today about what the award means to her.
