For most of the Territory's history since colonisation, Darwin has been governed by administrations from other states and colonies. There have been several false starts at self government - including the landmark referendum on statehood in 1998, narrowly and controversially voted down by Territorians, with a "no vote" majority of just 51-point-3 per cent .NITV News’ Nevanka McKeon looks back at the NT's rich history.
