Off Country is a feature-length documentary that follows the lives of seven Indigenous students over a year as they leave home and become boarders at one of the most elite schools in the country, Geelong Grammar School. From inside the boarding house, on the sports fields and in the classroom, the film covers the 2020 school year as the boarding school is thrown into chaos as the pandemic hits. The students also wrestle with their identities as they move between boarding life and home life.
