Libbi Gorr
When broadcaster and satirist Libbi Gorr ditched her brash and brazen alter ego, Elle McFeast, it was both a liberation and a new creative exercise: Libbi had to invent Libbi.

Elle McFeast had rampaged through the 1990s as one of the television’s most popular personalities on programs including Breasts, Sex, GUYS and Videotape and Live and Sweaty. But when an interview with Mark “Chopper” Read on her fledgling program McFeast went awry, it heralded change.

With Elle McFeast off the stage, Libbi went on to study fine arts, work in radio, print media, television, on the stage and as an MC. Libbi says she’s found age no barrier to maintaining a media career in the last decade. She also says your forties are more interesting: “Everyone’s stories are so much better. There’s much more at stake. They’re much more traumatic”.

Originally a law graduate from Melbourne University, Libbi has a long-term partner with whom she shares two small children. They all live in Sydney. Libbi divides her work life between this city and her home town of Melbourne.
