Food shows offer something for everyone: getaways to glorious destinations, chop-and-chat entertainment, dinner ideas and even blindfolded biscuit sniffing! And the most popular food shows of 2025 at SBS On Demand have all of that, and more. You can see what everyone’s been watching this year in SBS on Demand’s Best Food Shows of 2025 collection. Here’s a taste: Searching for Italy (and Mexico and Spain)
Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy not only leads the Best Food Shows list but made it into the Best Documentaries list too. Tucci con l'Italia è infinitamente divertente! He’s not just a fantastic, curious, happy-to-try-anything host, who genuinely seems to enjoy every bite, but funny too. The small moments of joking at his own expense add spice to an already highly entertaining travel show. Tucci was also involved as an executive producer in the creation of Searching for Mexico, another in the most-watched shows list, this one following actress Eva Longoria as she explored her Mexican heritage. Her latest, Searching for Spain, also arrived at SBS On Demand this year, and one of the things that appeals about all three is that while the travel and the encounters with many delicious dishes are great, that’s not all that’s happening. As the name suggests, Tucci and Longoria are searching for a better understanding of their heritage, so there are meals with family and visits to places with personal meaning. If you’re searching for an armchair escape and haven’t watched these, settle in (we’d suggest a cool aperitivo in hand).

Come Dine With Me
They are competing for money, we’re watching for the comments, good cooking, failures, fun, successes and sometimes, hosting horror stories. This UK cooking sees reality TV take a seat at the dining table, as groups of strangers take turns hosting themed dinner parties and scoring each other. Each season sees multiple groups in different cities taking on the Come Dine With Me challenge, and trying to impress each other. Some go for familiar food, others for quirky themes (doctors and nurses, an animal-themed vegan party, an evening dedicated to the host’s days as a professional club dancer), but all of them are hoping to put on a great evening.
Air Fryers: Are They Worth It?
Air fryers are everywhere these days, and if you have one you may have already discovered the wide range of things you can cook in one (definitely not just frying! We’re talking granola, curry and giant choc-chip cookies!). But have you ever wondered how they work? Or if you don’t have one, you might be wondering what the fuss is about. Are they healthier? And will they save you money? Those are among the questions English actress and singer Denise van Outen (whose on-screen roles include an appearance in Neighbours) delves into in the documentary Air Fryers: Are They Worth It?, which also claimed a spot in the most-watched shows list.

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and A Cook’s Tour
Anthony Bourdain’s legacy lives on, with his fearless, sometimes funny, always curious wanderings securing not just one, but two places in the most-watched shows list. Across 12 seasons, Parts Unknown takes viewers to an impressive array of destinations, many of them less explored, challenging to visit or familiar but shown through different eyes, from Myanmar in the first episode, to two ‘behind the scenes’ episodes at the very end, giving us a picture of what it was like to work with Bourdain and how he altered the world of food travel. A Cook’s Tour, his first food travel show, gives us the fearless bad-boy Bourdain or the early 2000s, tackling rare, dangerous and fascinating food, and a chance to see where it all began.

NOTE: A Cook’s Tour is streaming at SBS On Demand until 28 February, so watch it while you can.
The Cook Up with Adam Liaw
Adam Liaw is impressively good at holding fascinating conversations with his guests while cooking up his dish of the night, so it’s no surprise that The Cook Up is one of the most-watched shows of 2025 (and has named a Best Lifestyle Program finalist in the AACTA Awards!). And with eight seasons (that’s more than 700 episodes), there’s bound to be some you haven’t seen yet. You’ll get chop-and-chat with guests ranging from some of Australia’s best-known actors to sports stars, writers, poets, restaurateurs, award-winning journalists and musicians and more, and if you’re looking for the recipes, you’ll find them all here.

A Girl's Guide to Hunting, Fishing and Wild Cooking
What happens when a Michelin-trained chef swaps the bright lights for a 115-year-old cottage in Tasmania? Plenty of learning, connecting with nature, meeting producers and building a new life, complete with kitchen garden, goats, new friends and a canine companion. Born in New Zealand, Analiese Gregory has travelled and cooked around the world, but across two seasons of A Girl’s Guide she makes a home in the Huon Valley. Season one sees her adjusting to life in her Tassie cottage (plenty of inspiration for anyone dreaming of a tree-change/sea-change!) while in season two, she’s working to open a tiny eatery in her home. Across both there are outdoor adventures, some real challenges to overcome and many moments of food joy. “I hope that people will take away from it that there is always a possibility to chase your dreams, overcome your fears, learn new tricks, get out in nature and reconnect with yourself. Even if sometimes you get cold, wet, and pick up a few bruises on the way!” Gregory says of the show.

Boiling Point
Technically, this one falls into SBS On Demand’s Best TV Shows of 2025 collection, but it would be remiss of us not to flag this one as essential viewing. The four-part series follows on from a highly successful film of the same name, but you don’t need to have watched the film to dive into the fast-paced action here, as head chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) fights challenges on the work and personal fronts. (Fans of the superb talent of Stephen Graham, who starred as chef Andy Jones in the original film, will be pleased to see him reprise his BAFTA-nominated role, now dealing with the consequences of his high-pressure life.)
