Pie is good any day of the year, but today pie lovers have extra reason to serve up a piece - or three and a bit - slices of pie.
Pi, or “π”, is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Since the value is approximately 3.142, we think it only right that everyone should feel free to eat 3.142 slices of pie today, because March 14 is international Pi Day.
And of course, we have a world of pies for you to dive into! Starting with the savoury, and moving - of course- to our fave sweet pies, all robed in rich golden pastry.....
1. Beef, baharat and pine nut pies (sambousik)
This recipe is for the Lebanese version of a meat pie, but these fragrant pastries don’t require tomato sauce. And these great make-ahead snacks, because you can freeze uncooked sambousik for up to a month.

2. Rustic Moroccan chicken pie
Say hello to golden flaky pastry and Moroccan-spiced filling, packed with chicken and vegetables.

3.142 Cauliflower and cavolo nero rice pie
You can use silverbeet or kale instead of cavolo nero in this lighter-style pie from the Feast magazine archives.

4. Jachal-style empanadas
Who doesn't love an empanadas? This Argentinian empanada recipe comes from the region of Jachal. Both the dough and spiced beef filling can be made the day ahead.

5. Pizza rustica
"A pie filled with a beautifully light, un-stodgy filling of classic Italian ingredients - prosciutto, spinach, ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella. Delicious eaten hot or cold and perfect for a picnic!" says Poh Ling Yeow.

6. Salted caramel, apple and cranberry pie
What better way to step over to the sweet side of our ultimate pie list than this stunning lattice-topped apple pie (because no pie list should be without a mighty fine apple pie!)

7. Tiramisu handpies
Everyone gets their own tiramisu pie!

8. Sweet potato pie
This kumera pie puts a twist on the American classic pumpkin pie.

9. Coconut meringue pie
This pie creation blends the best of Thai flavours with an American dessert classic, the coconut cream pie.

10. Nusstorte
This Swiss pie is made from shortcrust pastry and a filling of chopped walnuts, cream and honey.
