بدأت رحلة نجاح رجل الأعمال هاش تايه البالغ من العمر 31 عاماً بكذبة كبيرة خدع فيها والديه ليسمحا له بالسفر إلى أستراليا بمفرده! أصبح هاشم تايه مؤخراً صاحب أكبر سلسلة برغر مملوكة للقطاع الخاص في أستراليا مع افتتاح متجره ال17 مع خطة طموحة أن تنمو سلسلة BURGERTORY التي يملكها إلى 50 متجراً بحلول نهاية عام 2023.

Hello Marhaba, thank you so much for having me on the show today. To be honest, I feel very proud but very surprised at the same time. My journey's been a very fast tracked journey. I started Burgatory in 2018. At the end of 2018 with one store. As of 2 days ago, we now have 17 stores which are privately owned and operated.

Um, to explain about how I feel, I feel very humbled. Um, I feel very humbled that I have the opportunity to inspire and mentor others. Um, when I moved to Australia when I was 16, um, I felt as if no one wanted to help me, um, and no one wanted to support me with my vision or my dreams, uh, or my journey. Now that I'm in the position where I can inspire.

That's weird. So when I was younger, um, I was in a military academy called Qatar Leadership Academy, and I finished school when I was 16, and I told my parents I wanted to come on a holiday to Australia to visit my auntie.

Now, the intention was to actually come here and start a new life, and the reason being is living in Qatar, it was more conservative and the opportunities were a lot less for someone with my sort of background, so.

When I came here, I saw that it was a lot more multicultural and diverse, and the opportunities were abundant. You can, you can forge and create your own path. So, as you said, my parents were quite upset when I told them I'm not coming back. We had a lot of disagreements and arguments, and, you know, I felt very bad for upsetting my parents because that wasn't my intention, but unfortunately they didn't share the vision.

Um, that I had, and I had a vision and I've always been an ambitious person and um I'm what you would call an id, very stubborn. When I've got something in my mind, I won't stop until I get there or I achieve it. um.

You know, but Al Khandallah, my parents moved here a few years ago. They're very, they're very proud of me, you know, they love the way that the community respects what I've done and the opportunities that I have given our own community as well.

Um, yeah, so it went from a story of angry, disappointed parents to parents that understand that, you know, not, not everyone's vision is the same, and I don't, and I think that they learned within themselves that you can't force your vision as a parent onto your child. Sometimes you need to let them create their own paths and, you know, just.

Climb up the ladder and you know people keep pushing you down back down the ladder. When I came here, I worked a lot of different jobs. I worked in McDonald's. I worked in Luna Park. I did landscaping. I did labouring.

And, um, when I was 17, I started my first business importing electronics, um, from China and Japan, and then doing some drop shipping and wholesaling, um, uh, through e-commerce websites. Um, from there, I, uh, I bought a doughnut factory, um, and I was wholesaling doughnuts. And after that, uh, I, when I was 23, I brought Easy Mart to Victoria.

We now have 26 Easy Mart stores around Victoria, and um from there in 2018 I started Burgatory. Now, being stubborn can be taken in a positive way or a negative way, and I think that,

There needs to be, um, there needs to be a happy medium, because being stubborn isn't about always being right, but it's, it means that you don't stop when you fail. You remember that you're going to wake up tomorrow and tomorrow's a new day, and a new day brings a new opportunity, and a new opportunity means that you have something to look forward to. So being stubborn.

And believing in your vision, it doesn't mean doing the wrong thing. What it means is if you've got a dream, if you've got an ambition, if you want something for yourself that no-one else sees, don't let anyone demotivate you, don't let anyone stop you.

So I never look at myself as being the best, but I always fight every day to be the best and to do better and to be better, and the secret is not to get comfortable, because the moment that you're comfortable, the moment that you become complacent, and you think that you've won the market and you're the best, that's when you fail. Aside from that, um, I think one of our biggest edges is that we're 100% halal.

And what that means for us is we haven't actually shut ourselves out of any market, which is um which is a really big thing, you know, so, our, our shops and our restaurants, um, they're very diverse and multicultural and,

You know, every, there there's something for everyone, whether you're young, old, whether you're um whatever religion you are, whatever nationality you are, you know, whether you're vegan or vegetarian, or um you're Muslim or you're Christian or you're Hindu, no matter what you are, I think, um, it's, it's very, it's very diverse and very respectful um of all cultures. So even with the bacon, for example, we sell bacon, but it's premium beef bacon.

And for the Muslims that don't eat pork or, you know, pig products, they, they can now enjoy beef bacon, which is, which is something that they weren't able to enjoy before.
