Australia welcomes thousands of migrants each year. Many come with dreams and hopes for a better life. However, settling in a new country often comes with complex challenges. The 2018 World Happiness Report finds that migrants accepted by their host communities often feel more positive. So, are you happier after migrating?


Colombian-born Juan Caceres was in the middle of a post-graduate degree in constitutional law when he decided to follow his then-girlfriend to Australia.

It was one of those life-changing decisions that saw Caceres move half a world away from his beloved family and sacrificing his Colombian qualifications to make a new start.
