Bangladesh police claim Momena Shoma had a forbidden romance with a now missing Islamic State extremist before she allegedly stabbed a Melbourne man last month. Ms Shoma was engaged to Najibullah Ansari, a former Bangladeshi marine engineer who has allegedly gone to fight with ISIS in Iraq. Ms Shoma, who is now in custody for allegedly stabbed her billeting host in his suburban Melbourne home in an allegedly IS-inspired attack, did not marry Ansari because of parental disapproval. From an upper middle-class family in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, Ms Shoma has been charged by the Victorian Joint Counter-Terrorism Team with engaging in a terrorist attack.
