The 5,130 medals for the 2016 Olympic Games are the symbols of sustainability and accessibility. All Olympic medals have to measure at least 3 millimeters thick and 60 millimeters in diameter.The gold medal, that went through a ‘gold bath’, valued at 590 dollars, is actually made of 494 grams of silver and only six grams of gold.The Olympic prize design includes the traditional laurel leaf while the signs on Paralympic medals show the seeds of courage, persistence and development of the athletes
