In Bangladesh anyone can buy antibiotics without a prescription for simple viral illness. Sometimes antibiotics are being used in livestock and poultry farms. Needless use of antibiotics is creating menacing health hazards as antibiotics are not working properly when it is really necessary. Currently antibiotic resistance has become a global issue and health professionals are concerned about it. Dr. Zahurul Quddus Showkat of Bangladesh Medical Society of Victoria speaks to SBS Bangla about antibiotic resistance.


Dr Zahurul Showkat is concerned over severity of 'Superbug', emerged from antibiotic resistance, due to wrong use of antibiotics.
