For coral reefs such as the Great Barrier Reef, climate change is an existential threat. Our Great Barrier Reef, the largest reef on Earth, has experienced seven mass bleaching events in the last 25 years, five of them in the past eight years alone. However, a new discovery now gives hope, as Barbara Barkhausen reports.
