Journeying throughout the world and invitations to troubled regions and war zones left traces in this gifted writer's novels, but also became a thread throughout her whole life. Ulla Lenze's participation in a writers project in Damascus led to her taking part in the events currently taking place at the Goethe Institute in Sydney under the heading "Damascus in Exile". Mumbai, Istanbul and Berlin are the settings of her latest novel "The Endless City". In it the main characters experience political realities, embedded in personal adventures, which are scrutinized by the author in deeply philosophical but also cheekily sexy escapades. She never judges, just observes, and let the readers find their own opinions. In our studio we talked about this latest, as well as her third novel, "Der Kleine Rest des Todes".
