Everyone knows Kylie Minogue and Cate Blanchett. Their songs and films are highly successful all around the world. In the world of classical music, there's a third Australian with global appeal: Simone Young. The 55-year-old conductor from Sydney is partly based in Germany, but has worked extensively in Austria and Switzerland too. As a result, she's fluent in German. Our correspondent Jasmin Liese met Simone Young in Munich and also witnessed the Opera Elektra.
