Surfing in Germany - no joke!

Surfing is part and parcel of the Australian lifestyle. Not so in Germany, where one one key ingredient is critically absent: Big waves. So you might be surprised to learn that there are still some pretty good surfers in Germany!One of the best is Valeska Schneider. The 24-year old has been training for years and is now coming to Australia, to study... and to surf, of course! Our correspondent Jasmin Liese met the keen surfer in her hometown Munich, shortly before her long flight to Australia.
