Fish and reptiles are known to be able to change their sex over the course of their lives. But until now, this has been considered almost impossible for birds. A new Australian study is now questioning this assumption: Researchers have found that sex reversal in birds appears to be more common than previously thought — with potential consequences for research and species protection.
