Each year the Oscars’ In Memoriam section pays tribute to the film world’s greatest actors who are no longer with us.

The Indian film industry lost many stalwarts since the last Academy Awards and on Monday, they paid a tribute to two special stars the industry lost in recent months.

The Academy honoured Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor in their ‘In Memoriam’ segment.

Actress Jennifer Garner introduced the segment by paying tribute to late star Audrey Hepburn.

"There is no joy without sorrow," Garner said, and then acknowledged the loss of film world with the departed souls.
One of Bollywood’s biggest female stars, Sridevi died unexpectedly aged 54 after drowning in a bath tub in Dubai in February while legendary Shashi Kapoor died after struggling with chest infection, aged 79, in Mumbai in December 2017.

Both Padma awardees were acknowledged and remembered at Oscars’ on Monday.

Indian fans across the world and Bollywood stars applauded the gesture in their tweets.
