Robbers armed with metal bars weren’t prepared for the weapons they were to face as they tried to enter a service station in Aberdare in New South Wales on Sunday morning.

An Indian-origin service station attendant was at the door of the store when one of the three balaclava-clad robbers tried to enter.

The feisty Indian showered the armed robber with a barrage of lollies as the uninvited intruder threatened him with an iron bar.

The quick-thinking service station worker just happened to be close to a shelf loaded with lollies and chocolates that blunted not just the weapons of the would-be robbers, but also their morale.

The intruder then escaped in his car with two other passengers.

Detective Inspector Dubojski urged people to contact police if they noticed any suspicious activity.

The armed offender was described as wearing a balaclava, black jumper, track pants with two stripes down the side and black socks.

Anyone with information about the matter is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
