Joginder Singh Sandhu has shared many ground-breaking stories in his more-than-40-year career in journalism.
Sandhu used his passion for journalism to share stories in the areas of politics, religion, society and Punjabi culture.
He is currently working for Jagbani newspaper. He joined Jagbani as a sub-editor in 1979.
While speaking on the role of media, he urged journalists to play an active role to address the issues of society.
“Media should come forward to spread positive vibes in the society. This can only be attained if journalists have a firm commitment and passion towards their work,” said Mr Sandhu.
“I have seen many ups and down in my 40 years of career as a journalist. I have covered numerous ground-breaking stories from India and abroad.”
“It was my sheer passion that helped me cover stories like Kargil Indo-Pak war, earthquake tragedy in Gujrat, Post-1984 era in Punjab, Sydney Olympics.”
“The media should become a torch bearer for a better society.”
“But with the rise of social media, we have seen many irresponsible reporting, which should not be the case.”
“I love reading Punjabi books and Punjabi poetry is my favourite subject.”
“I have a keen interest in Sikh religion. My recently published book ‘Sirr Vihunae Dhadh’ is my humble effort to understand the Sikh principles both at a basic and spiritual level.”
