On the evening of 10 November 2025, a powerful explosion occurred near the Red Fort metro station in New Delhi, resulting in at least eight deaths and several injuries. Australia has issued a travel advisory for residents planning to travel to India, urging them to exercise a high degree of caution.


A car has exploded near New Delhi’s historic Red Fort, killing at least eight people and injuring around 20 others.

The blast struck near the Red Fort metro station on Subhash Marg, in a densely populated area of the capital, Old Delhi.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a swift recovery, while neighbouring regions, including Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, were put under heightened security.

Mr Modi said that he spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials regarding the blast and reviewed the situation.

India’s Home Minister Amit Shah said, "We are investigating the incident and exploring all the possibilities. We will share the results with the public after a thorough investigation.”

The probe is being led by India’s National Investigation Agency, alongside Delhi Police and forensic experts.

“Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green OAM, expressed regret over the incident in a tweet and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured.”

Several world leaders have also sent messages expressing their condolences and sympathy for those affected by the incident.

Australia has issued a travel warning at Level 2, indicating that travelers should exercise a high degree of caution.

"Due to risks of terrorism, crime, and civil unrest, visitors to India are advised to exercise a high level of caution," the advisory states.
