Andre Afamasaga

Mr Andre Afamasaga talks openly about his struggles to be accepted as a Samoan and Christian gay male in a world where there are fewer Samoan gay males than Samoan fa'afafine.

As a former pastor of a Christian Church in New Zealand, Andre Afamasaga talks about undergoing gay conversion practice believing that he was broken and that being gay was sinful in the teachings of the Church.

He also talks about his experience as a Samoan gay male and not a fa'afafine and how much more marginalised people like him can be.

AND he dispels the 'myth' that fa'afafine is a boy brought up as a girl in Samoan families where a couple has all sons and no daughters.
