A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck New Zealand's North Island.
Residents across the capital Wellington and in the city of New Plymouth were rattled by the 207km-deep tremor. New Zealand's parliament, sitting at the time, was suspended after the prolonged rumble to allow for the precinct's buildings to be checked.
The quake was recorded at 3:13pm local time, at a depth of 227 kilometres on the North Island's west coast.
Prince Harry and Meghan the Duchess of Sussex are currently in New Zealand, couple are in Auckland, about 250 kilometres north of the quake's epicentre.
