A panel discussion with engineers working at Darwin highlighted the issues facing the sector, the skills needed and future trends, sharing their experiences and observations from Waqar Ali Khan, Ali Ashraf, Fahd Khan and Marghub Khan, and the areas where the employment opportunities are identified.

تو I think the opportunities for electrical engineers within Darwin has
been good for at least from my own perspective.

for other friends of mine who are you know migrants, ام،
they found it a bit difficult. However, my advice to them has always been to go out
and make connections,
ام، volunteer as much as possible, ام، get your face known.
تو and the people that have followed that advice have been able to get jobs almost
immediately as well.

تو جو ابھی فہد نے کہا کہ local experience اور networking،
اس کی بے انتہا کمی تھی۔ تو میں باہر سے آیا تھا، میں highly skilled تھا، technical
skills میرے پاس کافی تھیں
لیکن local experience بالکل نہیں تھی۔
تو I had to hunt for the job, I had to really strive hard to get a job.
آ، it took me about three months to get my first job and I have to apply hundreds of
jobs initially.
لیکن اس کے بعد it was very easy for me to step up in the job because

پھر یہاں پہ local experience ہو گیا،

یا Engineers Australia جو professional association اس کے through ہوں،
ام،
آپ کو جو ہے ان سے connect کریں اور ایک اور چیز ہے کہ جو international students ہیں
جو یہاں پر آتے ہیں تو وہ بجائے اس کے کہ وہ graduation year میں، آ،
networking کریں یا، آ، local experience کی کوشش کریں، وہ they should start early.

کیا اور since I qualified مجھے-- I was not unemployed. From the day first I
graduated from uni, I got a job straight and civil کی still, I'm talking about
seven years ago, civil کی still is in high demand at the moment in Darwin

and it's easy to enter in a market especially in Darwin.

اوپر Engineers کے لیے کس طرح کے، آ، scope موجود ہیں؟
It's not the case that as you are saying. Darwin if you look into it, I was an
migrant. I start came in 2022. I was studying Master of Engineering Mechanical
and then I got my first job in there so and I have networked a lot in Engineers
Australia other events, but I don't feel like there is any sort of
Discrimination or a sense of racism on the basis of from where you are coming up. So
I got my first job in the very first year when I was studying in uni and then from
there it carry on. I got the second one and the third job. So I will say in the
top end there are a bit less opportunity in compared to other areas and
a lot of people do consider it as a remote area, but I will say there are still
significant opportunity in terms of mining. There are a lot of mining
companies. There are two gas plants in Darwin's, Darwin areas, and there are a
lot of other construction opportunities here I will say.
