Dr Farhat Malik, a senior doctor with over a decade of experience in Australia, specialises in treating patients from South Asian backgrounds. He says many travellers make a crucial mistake — they overlook getting vaccinated before flying to countries like Pakistan or India.

International travel, especially to South Asia, can expose visitors to viruses and diseases that are rare or different in countries such as Australia. Despite the availability of vaccines, many underestimate these risks and skip essential immunisations, which, according to Dr Malik, can lead to preventable illnesses and complications.
