On the occasion of SBS completing 50 years, senior journalist Syed Zafar Hussain stated that SBS is the only national broadcaster in Australia that, over the past five decades, has come to provide reliable and credible information in more than sixty languages, including Urdu.
According to Syed Zafar Hussain, SBS is not limited to news delivery; it also plays a vital role in connecting various communities with their language and culture. Whether it's the SBS Radiothon, OB van broadcasts from major community festivals, or now live streaming, these have all become a historic hallmark of SBS across Australia.
He said that SBS has always highlighted the needs of migrant communities.
