SBS News speaks to Traditional Owner Yessie Mosby on Masig Island in the Torres Strait.
He says the island is shrinking due to rising sea levels and recalls the moment his son found the washed up remains of his great great grandmother while walking the island's sandy shores.
Mosby was among eight Torres Strait Islanders who won a landmark United Nations human rights ruling agaisnt the Australian Government in 2022 over climate change inaction.
