In a game that many are comparing to Sunday night's NRL Grand Final, the Redfern All Blacks came from behind to claim the Koori Knockout title for 2015 and send the Carnival packing to Sydney next year.
At one point it had seemed that the Redfern side was out of the game and the Knockout would return to Newcastle yet again, as the Newcastle All Blacks dominated the field.
But then things got interesting.
With just one second before the final whistle and two points in it, a penalty went Redfern's way. Shane Nolan slid it beween the posts and forced the game into extra time. A try for Redfern in the second half of the extra minutes let to euphoria on one side and utter heartbreak on the other.
