Un'opportunità unica per scoprire la storia di Roma in Australia

Grande attesa a Canberra per l'apertura, il 21 settembre, della mostra Rome: City and Empire, che porterà down under una straordinaria collezione di oggetti, statue e altre meraviglie della Roma repubblicana e imperiale provenienti dalla collezione del British Museum. Ne abbiamo parlato (in inglese nell'intervista audio) con il direttore del National Museum of Australia, il dottor Mathew Trinca, che ha ricordato come "sia quasi impossibile immaginare la storia dell'umanità senza comprendere il ruolo che Roma ha avuto nello sviluppo della conoscenza e dell'esperienza dell'umanità intera".

Nonostante la sfida notevole di trasportare dall'altra parte del mondo oggetti di valore inestimabile, tra cui una statua che pesa circa una tonnellata, il dottor Trinca è convinto dell'importanza di portare questa mostra down under "per permettere agli australiani di condividere le meraviglie di Roma".

Rome: City and Empire sarà al National Museum of Australia dal 21 settembre 2018 al 3 febbraio 2019.
