Pakistan's mangoes are often described as the "king of fruits", and their popularity is now extending beyond South Asia to Australia, where mango festivals are increasingly becoming part of the multicultural calendar. The Pakistani Mango Festival in Melbourne attracted not only the local Pakistani community but also official delegations from China, Türkiye, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
According to the Consulate General of Pakistan in Melbourne, more than 30,000 people attended the event, including Australian federal ministers and Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan. Speaking to SBS, Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs Julian Hill described it as a truly multicultural event and said Australia's diversity should be a source of strength and prosperity rather than division.
Chinese Consul General Feng Zhongwen also highlighted mutual respect and learning from one another as the foundation of a multicultural society.
