New research by Sidra Malik has found that the dream of adequate representation of people of all colours, races, and genders in the world of artificial intelligence, or AI, is currently far from being realized.

Speaking to SBS Urdu, Dr. Sidra Malik said that her recent research sought to understand how diversity and inclusion is actually implemented in the AI and machine learning industry. Her study identified key challenges, such as underrepresentation of marginalized groups, lack of organizational transparency, and limited diversity and inclusion training for newcomers.
