Salman Ahmad Baig, who runs a delivery business in the regional Wollongong area of NSW, isn't celebrating the recent dip in fuel prices. He says the relief will be short-lived, with the 32-cent fuel duty relief ending today and 16 cents returning to bowser prices from tomorrow, followed soon after by another 16-cent increase. His concerns echo a recent survey of small businesses, which found that operational costs are continuing to rise.
Salman Ahmad Baig, who runs a delivery business in the regional Wollongong area of NSW, says the recent drop in fuel prices hasn't put his mind at ease, as he believes the relief won't last. According to him, the 32-cent fuel duty relief ends today, meaning 16 cents will be added back to prices from tomorrow, with another 16-cent rise expected to follow shortly after. "Everything is going up along with the cost of operations," he said, highlighting just how much pressure delivery businesses like his — which rely heavily on fuel — are under. His comments come as a recent survey of small businesses also confirmed that operational costs continue to climb, painting an uncertain picture for small business owners like Salman in the months ahead.
