Sri Lanka Custom announced last week that they introduce new duty free allowance for several house hold items to Sri Lankan, who worked overseas more than one year.
According to new changes, they are allowed to bring one Bathroom Set (With Accessories), One Bedroom Set (One Wardrobe, One Dressing Table, One Bed), Solar Panels, One Motor Cycle/Auto Cycle/ Scooter not more than CC350 to Sri Lanka without any duty.
Moreover, one Desktop Computer, One Laptop, Two Mobile Phones also allowed them to bring home with no duty.
And also there are some restricted articles and goods in passenger’s baggage which they have to pay full duty if they bring them, Sri Lanka Airport Deputy Custom Director Parakrama Basnaayakae said.
They are as follows.
- AIR CONDITIONER
- DEEP FREEZER
- DISH WASHER
- ELECTRIC OVEN (FOUR BURNERS)
- REFRIGERATOR NEW/USED CFC FREE (OVER 500LTR)
- T.V. CRT (OVER 29”)
- T.V. LCD /LED/PLASMA(OVER 55”
