A powerful evening of contemporary Ukrainian storytelling featuring the original New Zealand-set English-language play reading “Blood Calls” about a Ukrainian refugee woman, starring Elena Stejko and written by Mariia Starozhytska, alongside the new Ukrainian short film “Soldier” with English voiceover.
Audiences will be immersed in contemporary Ukrainian realities through live performance, cinema, music, food, and conversation.
This is a unique opportunity for New Zealand audiences to feel and better understand not only what is happening in Ukraine right now, but also the emotions and experiences of their new neighbours who have arrived here because of the war.

On 18 September, we will present Blood Calls as part of our Ukrainian evening, No Safe Distance.
