It is one year since President Vladimir Putin ordered almost 200,000 Russian forces to invade Ukraine.

Countries around the world are showing their solidarity with Ukraine

New research shows low-income earners are struggling to keep their homes cool above 45 degrees Celsius, potentially damaging their health and well-being.

The Australian Council of Social Service poll of 208 Centrelink payment recipients in January - found that 90 per cent of people on income support said the heat had been making them sick, and 30 per cent have suffered from heat stress so severe that they had to seek medical attention.

The study also found elderly people and those with poor health or living with disability had vulnerabilities, with heat stress exacerbating diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and seizures.

With energy bills increasing for households, 73 per cent claim they have reduced their use of fans or air conditioning, and 66 per cent report they have gone without food or medicine to pay for energy bills.

A Brazilian navy ship has arrived to help rescue victims and support displaced people in south east Brazil.

Last weekend Brazil recorded its heaviest ever rainfall in a 24 hour period.

At least 38 people remain missing while 3000 residents had to leave their homes.

And fire crews have slowed the spread of a blaze burning north of Adelaide in South Australia.

The Country Fire Service has 21 crews on the scene and an emergency warning was issued for the community.

The fire is burning about six kilometres north of Gawler.
