बाह्रसम्म दुबईमा हुन गइरहेको one day र T20 खेलहरू खेल्न गइरहेको जानकारी Cricket
Australia Masters Over 40s ले सार्वजनिक गरेको हो। नेपालमै सानो उमेरदेखि क्रिकेटमा
लागेका छेत्री Adelaide University बाट premier cricket खेल्दै आएका छन्। एक
क्रिकेट प्रशिक्षक पनि हुन् र नेपालमा गत वर्ष सम्पन्न भएको नेपाल Premier League NPL
मा काठमाडौँ गोर्खाजका team manager पनि रहेका थिए। अस्ट्रेलियन टोलीमा छेत्रीको यो
पछिल्लो ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धि र उनको समग्र क्रिकेटिङ यात्राको बारेमा उनीसँग सहकर्मी
समीर घिमिरेले गर्नुभएको कुराकानी सुन्न तर्फ लागौं SBS नेपाली podcast मा।

तपाईंको अब nationals हुन्छ यहाँ। अब जस्तै अब तपाईंको
हामी अस्ति भर्खरै nationals खेल्यौँ अनि nationals मा चैँ मैले चैँ South Australia
represent गरेर अनि
South Australia ले host गरेको थियो अनि we had teams from New South Wales, we had
teams from Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania
अनि once you start playing nationals अनि nationals बाट you get picked. अब तपाईंको
performance nationals मा कस्तो हुन्छ similar to तपाईंको अब कस्तो भन्दाखेरि अब
हामी यहाँ premier खेल्छौँ premier बाट state level selection हुन्छ state level
बाट Australia level selection हुन्छ। त्यही similar structure नै छ अनि त्यो structure
मा चैँ मैले अस्ति nationals खेलेँ nationals मा मेरो performance चैँ एकदमै
राम्रो थियो अनि त्यसले गर्दा they picked me in for Australia.
अब तपाईं यसरी select हुनु अथवा चयन हुनुमा तपाईंको obviously आफ्नो मेहनतको पनि हात छ।
कहिलेदेखि तपाईं क्रिकेट खेलमा involve हुनुहुन्छ?
क्रिकेट खेलमा म involve भको
धेरै भइसक्यो। म सुरुमा नेपाल, नेपालमा चैँ म under 15 खेलेँ मैले। नेपाल under 15 म
national खेलेँ। National मा म तपाईंको
नेपाल team को camp मा थिएँ अनि unfortunately म नेपालमा परिनँ। त्यसपछि म
under 17 खेलेँ, under 19 खेलेँ अनि त्यसपछि म अस्ट्रेलिया आएँ। अस्ट्रेलिया म last
अठार वर्षदेखि म premier cricket खेलेर आइराखेको छु यहाँ। म अहिले पनि premier
cricket नै खेल्छु। म अहिले university को लागि चैँ premier cricket खेल्छु।
त्यसमाथि मैले तपाईंको I'm the only नेपाली जोले चैँ तपाईंको अस्ट्रेलियाको premier
cricket मा मैले captaincy गरेर मैले club लाई चैँ
trophy जिताको। म अहिलेसम्म मलाई थाहा भको हिसाबले म पहिलो मात्रै नेपाली हो। अनि so
cricket खेल्दै आएको चैँ म धेरै भइसक्यो। Plus अब
giving back को हिसाबले हेर्ने हो भने चैँ म अहिले
बच्चाहरूलाई coaching पनि गराउँछु। म level 2 Cricket Australia level 2 qualified
coach पनि हो। अनि त्यसैगरी तपाईंको म अहिले
last
NPL को season मा चैँ म काठमाडौँ गोर्खाजबाट team management को role पनि
खेल्दा थिएँ। I was the team manager for काठमाडौँ गोर्खाज।
हजुर, क्रिकेटमा निकै नै deeply involved हुनुहुँदो रहेछ र फेरि कति लामो समयदेखि पनि
हुनुहुँदो रहेछ। अब यो,
यो
over 40 masters भनिन्छ जसलाई। यो खेल्दा चैँ के अलिकति खेलको strategy change हुन्छ?
खेलको strategy
change भन्दा पनि तपाईंको it, it you are playing with a lot of more experienced
people. अब तपाईं अब हामी धेरै experience मान्छेहरूसँग खेल्दा आउँछौँ। जस्तै कि अब
for example last year तपाईंको अब
November मा पाकिस्तानले World Cup host गरेको थियो जहाँ अस्ट्रेलिया लगायत, West
Indies लगायत, India लगायत all the big
nations were there अनि त्यसमा तपाईंको former playersहरू पनि खेलेको थियो जो अब
पाकिस्तान had a superstar team in there. अनि
strategy को हिसाबले तपाईंको they, they have got a lot of experience in that step.
यो stage मा आइसकेपछि तपाईंको
क्रिकेट चैँ अलिकति smartly खेलिन्छ। अनि तपाईंको
skills wise त तपाईंको skills everyone's got skills there is no doubt हैन। अनि
तपाईंको अब More important recovery मा चाहिँ धेरै focus पनि हुन्छ। How do you make
sure कि you sustain होइन? अब तपाईंको um one day खेल्दाखेरि fifty over खेल्दाखेरि
तपाईंको how do you sustain yourself back to back game हरू जुन हुन्छ। अब for example
अहिले अब दुबईमा हुँदैछ। हाम्रो senior team senior mens team नै struggle गरिरहेको
छ दुबईमा तपाईंको last time जाँदाखेरि। So lot of focus चाहिँ हाम्रो के हुन्छ
भन्दाखेरि recovery, fitness, how do you ensure कि अब हामी
fit रहौँ off the field कुराहरू पनि so those things become very important over
forties मा आइसकेपछि। Passion को level चाहिँ कुनै exactly तपाईंको अब भनौँ न um
passion चाहिँ कुनै पनि अब you still try to ensure that you give your hundred
percent अनि you are there अनि अब pride को कुरा पनि हो। अब because तपाईंको अब
भनौँ न अब club level खेल्दाखेरि मान्छेलाई यतिको pride हुन्छ भने when you are
representing country त्यो pride चाहिँ अब तपाईंको next level मा हुन्छ international
level मै हुन्छ। so yes passion is definitely no doubt about that number one.
[हँस्ने आवाज] हजुर। अनि अब जस्तो तपाईंले
coaching को पनि कुरा गर्नुभयो होइन। अब obviously हाम्रो नेपाली community बढ्दै
गइरहेको छ। अँ हाम्रो community बाट कतिको देख्नुभाछ सानो सानो नानीहरूको involvement
-cricket मा? -अब तपाईंको म Australia cricket मा पनि
involve भको धेरै भइसक्यो। अनि तपाईंको अब नेपाली community हाम्रो not just Adelaide
को context मा नहेरौं Sydney को context मा हेर्ने हो भने Brisbane को context मा
हेर्ने हो भने Tasmania को context मा हेर्ने हो भने Western Australia को context
मा हेर्ने हो भने नेपाली community is doing really well. Particularly तपाईंको के
हुन्छ भन्दाखेरि grassroots मा हाम्रो focus चाहिँ एकदमै राम्रो छ। अब Adelaide
Nepalese Cricket Association जुन हामीले यहाँ run गर्छौँ, हाम्रो चाहिँ तपाईंको अब
under 10, under 12, under 14 को structure जुन हामीले grassroots मा invest गरेको छौँ,
similarly Tasmania ले पनि त्यही follow गरिरहेछ, Victoria ले पनि त्यही follow
गरिरहेछ, तपाईंको Sydney मा पनि त्यही similar structure छ। अनि Queensland मा पनि
त्यही structure छ। So यो structure grassroots को structure continue भयो भने
चाहिँ के हुन्छ भन्दाखेरि I am very much hopeful कि one day अनि one of us one of
us
who have migrated उनीहरूको next generation नेपाली they will definitely represent
-Australia at some stage. -र अब नेपालको NPL मा पनि तपाईं सक्रिय रूपमा
भनौं न involved हुनुहुन्छ। अब NPL मा पाएको माया र प्रगति NPL tournament आफैले
अँ त्यसले नेपालको राष्ट्रिय टिमलाई कतिको सहयोग पुर्याएको जस्तो लाग्छ तपाईंलाई?
Last year मेरो NPL को experience was really really good. तपाईंको अब
obviously
काठमाडौँ गोर्खाजको context नहेरिकिन overall NPL को context हेर्ने हो भने चाहिँ
तपाईंको fan following को craze, तपाईंको infrastructure development को कुरा हेर्ने
हो भने अब मैले भनेँ मैले आफ्नै under 15 खेल्दाखेरि त्यो Tribhuvan University को
-ground को जुन structure थियो र अहिले- -हजुर।
...अँ जुन तपाईंको first game जुन हामीले खेल्यौँ जनकपुर versus काठमाडौँ गोर्खास to
play under lights under lights हामीले खेलेको थियो। त्यो भनेको I could have never
imagined जब मैले under 15 खेलिराथे कि we will have parapets, we will have under
lights and so forth. So those things are are very important. किनभन्दा खेरि
infrastructure भएन भने how you gonna play quality अनि how you gonna attract the best
from the world? अँ त्यसैगरी तपाईंको अब अँ यही second edition NPL कोमा चाहिँ तपाईंको
um
we were able to attract होइन अब lot of talent from overseas even for example
Faf du Plessis was there. अनि त्यसले गर्दा के हुन्छ भन्दाखरि the the interest in
नेपाली cricket चाहिँ grow हुन्छ के तपाईंको worldwide-
-हजुर। -...नेपाली cricket को interest grow भइराछ।
Plus तपाईंको
um the players are within NPL जुन छन्, जुन नेपाली domestic playerहरू छन्
-they get an opportunity to share the- -[फोनको आवाज]
...तपाईंको change जुन चाहिँ जुन
hamro international players हरूसँग जुन share हुन्छ they get to learn a lot
from them. किनभने खरि तपाईंको off the field cricket talks हरू जुन हुन्छ त्यो
कुराले गर्दा I am very confident कि नेपाली cricket लाई जुन domestic player हरू छन्
-they will benefit a lot in that context. -हजुर, अब यो नेपालको cricket को कुरा गर्दा
अब हाले भएको tournament T20 World Cup tournament को कुरा गर्नै पर्ने हुन्छ।
नेपालको performance analysis गर्दा तपाईं कस्तो देख्नुहुन्छ नेपालको?
I think lot of lot of positive cricket भन्या कस्तो भन्दाखेरि अब the highs are
highs and lows are low होइन। अब तपाईंको
obviously हामीले England सँग खेल्दाखेरि everyone was very much up in the air
किन-किनकि भन्दाखेरि our performance was brilliant in that space. similarly अब
तपाईंको Italy सँग कुरा गर्दाखेरि चाहिँ that was disappointing in that space. So I
think positive experience किन भन्दाखेरि if we we've got a अब जस्तो अब तपाईंको team
को structure हेर्यौँ भने there is a lot of
young talent in there. So if we can अब भनौँ न त्यो-त्यो talent लाई तपाईंको
सँगै लिएर जान सक्यो भने चाहिँ
future मा चाहिँ
राम्रो positive results हरू will come. So definitely I see a lot of positives from
-that experience of World Cup. -यो उमेरमा आएर तपाईं जुन खेलिरहनुभाछ, आफ्नो
normal काम पनि हुन्छ, tri-series खेल्न पनि जाँदैहुन्छ, आफूलाई fit कसरी
राख्नुहुन्छ र training को लागि समय कसरी मिलाउनुहुन्छ तपाईं?
सबैभन्दा
ठुलो कुरो के हो भन्दाखेरि purpose अब आफ्नो purpose के हो? You need to be clear in
that space होइन। Once अब तपाईंको मान्छे यदि आफ्नो purpose के हो त्यसमा clear
हुँदैन भने you sort of become a bit lost. अब मेरो कस्तो purpose थियो भन्दाखेरि अब I
have been involved in premier cricket अनि मेरो system मेरो structure के छ भन्दाखेरि
certain flow मा structure छ। अनि I maintain that structure अनि त्यो maintain
गर्नलाई चाहिँ तपाईंको motivation पनि चाहिन्छ। अनि
plus तपाईंको
cricket is one of those sports where
you know friendship जुन camaraderie जुन build हुन्छ, अनि त्यसले गर्दा तपाईंको um
you wanna go back and and continue that space as well. So time मिलाउनलाई चाहिँ
तपाईंको कस्तो हुन्छ भन्दाखेरि
priorities कसरी organize भन्ने ग-गर्छौँ भने individual ले भन्ने कुरा हो। अब
everyone has 24 hours in a day होइन। अब तपाईंको अब
in what
certain things हरू तपाईंले कसरी prioritize गर्नुहुन्छ भन्ने कुरामा depend गर्छ।
जस्तो अब
I make sure कि अब you know certain time मा you wake up, you train three or four
times a week अनि those structures are very important for me. अनि त्यो structuresहरू
चाहिँ मैले maintain गरिरहेको छु।Plus I get
a lot of satisfaction
from coaching अनि you know seeing the junior levels
learn develop आणि that is also my motivation in that space as
well.
