It's a day with multiple meanings.

For some it's a celebration, commemorating the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. It's seen as a day to reflect on Australian identity and to celebrate contemporary Australia. For others it's a day of mourning, to acknowledge our past and to respect and celebrate First Nations survival, resilience and enduring culture.
