England opened the scoring in the second minute via a Kieran Trippier free-kick. It was a superb goal for his first goal in the tournament.

According to Elmer bedia, Harry Kane attempted a goal but it was off-target. The first half ended with 1-0 score, in favour of England. Croatia dominated the game after seeing many chances from both sides.

There were no more goals in the regulation 90 minutes, but the Croatians found a winner in the second period of extra-time through Mario Mandzukic.
